Eolos is an easy to use system that can project aircraft positions in real time getting radar data directly from a radar system. This can be used by civil aviation authority staff to verify and monitor correct operation of systems, sub systems and communication lines. In the early development of Eolos, radar data was extracted from the radar system of Thessaloniki international airport "Makedonia" with permission from the airport's electronics department. Eolos' testing began in the summer of 2003 and a basic version was completed a few months later. Afterwards many important features were added in order to make Eolos a complete radar data projection and analysis tool and an air traffic control tool.
Today Eolos is used as a backup radar data processing system at "Makedonia" international airport (LGTS).
Since the beginning of 2006 Eolos provides radar data projection in real time at Chania airport in Crete (LGSA) and at 115 Battle Wing of the Hellenic Air in Souda, Crete.
In addition, after a 21-month trial operation, Eolos was permanently installed at NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI), in December 2010, to support the safety of missile firing.
